Indigenous Nurses Day May 11 2017
Lea Bill, CINA President

Greetings Colleagues,

Indigenous Nurses day is a day to celebrate the many ways you have supported and provided the special attention to those you have cared for in your nursing practice. As we celebrate nurses’ week “This is Nursing” with all nurses of Canada it’s an opportune time to celebrate our uniqueness as Indigenous Nurses.
Celebrate your uniqueness with your communities and colleagues by sharing your nursing story. As an Indigenous Nurse, you bring your unique Cultural heritage to the nursing profession which has and will continue to be an important element of nursing practice. Providing care in a culturally safe manner has been a focus of CINA for many decades. Your roles in the many different capacities as a nurse places you in a unique position where it’s possible to help others increase their awareness and understanding of the diversity of Canada’s indigenous peoples and the contributions we have made to Canada’s health care system and Canada as a whole.

The CINA BOD extends whole hearted Congratulations! and wish you all a Happy Indigenous Nurses Day May 11, 2017.

Lea Bill

CINA President
